How long does it take to grow my blog?

This question depends on how often you plan to blog, have you properly done your keyword research, and how well the blogs are written.

We know that if your keyword research is dialed in for your ideal client profile, you blog once a week, and you follow our best practice, Google will start to index your site in about 2 months. It can be longer if you are in a highly competitive area. It can also be substantially shorter if you are attempting to rank on an unusual keyword.

The purpose of blogging goes well beyond just SEO. Blogs help you connect in with your idea clients through their pain points. Well-crafted blogs allow you to build your know, like and trust factor. Blogs also give you great content to share on social media which helps build your reputation and also can drive traffic to your website.

Do I really need social media to grow my business?

Absolutely! Social media can be a powerful tool for business growth. It enhances brand visibility, engages your audience, and builds a community around your products or services. It's a direct line to your customers, allowing real-time interactions. However, you need the right strategy to boost your reach, connect you with your target audience, and drive conversions. Here at Your Social Media Hour, we help you with ALL of that.

How do I start to blog?

Just starting a blog is the clearest path to frustration and ultimately leads to disappointment. You need a full understanding of SEO, your ideal client profile, keyword research and then a well thought out editorial calendar. And remember, this is part of a bigger and most importantly coordinated digital marketing startegy.

Whom should I follow on social media?

There are many schools of thought on how to build connections on your social media accounts. When you get started it might be encouraging to just get followers. So you might want to enlist the help of friends and family to start building your accounts.

However, unless they can drive traffic into your business, you'll also need a strategy to ensure your account follower lists are filled with ideal clients. This can be done on a per person/company basis. You can add your current list of clients as well as your top prospects. You can connect with complementary businesses to yours (non-competitors who serve your ideal clients). Don't forget to also connect with thought leaders and experts in your area of expertise. You never know when a partnership can build!

Why don't I have more social media connections?

I always answer this question with this question "have you done the work? Do you know who your ideal client is? Have you done your keyword research? Do you consistently post? And lastly, have you taken a good look at your current connections? Maybe you have ideal clients following you but you are so worried about your "number of followers" you are missing the opportunity right in front of you. Vanity metrics - including number of followers do not lead to increased sales and business growth. If you want to increase your number of followers we recommend posting consistent high quality content based on best white hat practices.

What is Keyword Research? How do I start keyword research?

Keyword research is the first step, and critical foundation piece of any digital marketing strategy. If done correctly it will act as your guide for all blogs and social media posts as well as ALL other marketing assets. During keyword research you identify the terms, phrases and pain points of your ideal clients and how they search for your goods, services and solutions on the internet. Keyword research starts with a clear understanding of your ideal client and their pain points, your expertise, and then using tools to narrow your list and focus your wording. Don't worry! We walk you through each step of keyword research!

Do I need an editorial calendar?

Yes...absolutely! An editorial calendar is your guide to a coordinated digital marketing strategy. It can be as detailed or simple as you need at first and then can grow over time to include your blog, social media posts, newsletters, lead magnets - ALL other pieces of your digital marketing strategy.

How do I write an editorial calendar?

Get a pen and paper, a spreadsheet program (excel or Google sheet) and start writing down ideas! That is the way you begin to write an editorial calendar. As you go through the process of narrowing the directory details of your ideal client and then going through keyword and competitor research, you will start to build an editorial calendar.

What should I do on LinkedIn?

LinkedIn is a great social media platform to build your business connections. You can find clients, power partners, networking contacts and other like-minded entrepreneurs for support and guidance. Your first steps to building a robust LinkedIn program for your business is to optimize a personal account for yourself and then set-up and optimize a business page for your enterprise. You want to start sharing relevant content as you also connect in with others.

What do I have to do on Facebook to grow my following and my business?

In and of itself, an organic Facebook strategy is NOT going to reap substantial rewards. Yes, most of us like to just build Facebook because it is the one platform we know really well. However, only (up to) 5% of those who like your page actually will see your content on a regular basis. SO...what to do?

It is still critical to have a Facebook presence and post to your page regularly. In the Your Social Media Hour system we do give you a detailed list of ways to enhance your Facebook business reach including optimizing your account, tagging others, enlisting social media partners to share for you...and a WHOLE lot more.

What do I do first on social media to grow my presence?

The first thing you really need to do is figure out the first few steps to get started. And then start moving, right away. There is NO point in putting together an elaborate plan and not moving! You'll need to set-up and optimize your accounts based on keyword and competitor research. Write your editorial calendar. Start writing your blog. We know it can be overwhelming. That is why, for members of Your Social Media Hour, we do all the heavy planning for you. Once you are set-up all you do is spend some time each and every day following the detailed instructions in our email to build your accounts!
